Lois anti, pressions…

Today I am writing with news about our African Members, Sisters and Brothers who face frequent and difficult forms of discrimination. Yet, instead of simply accepting such terrible situations, the South African Pagan Rights Alliance is raising the bar and beginning a program to inform and change the hearts of their governmental officials and legislators. They are carrying out a 30 Days of Advocacy Against Witch Hunts in Africa campaign in order  to call attention to what is happening in Africa.

This campaign will be ongoing from March 29th – April 27th, to coincide with some important dates in the move from Apartheid to a free & democratic South Africa. Damon Leff, our very own Raene Packery and many more will be leading strong peaceful efforts that must be carried out at this time. It has become necessary for good people to stand up to preserve their liberties and freedom, or lose these rights for themselves and generations to come. SAPRA and other South African groups have decided this is their moment; they have no choice but to find a way to peacefully succeed in preventing the anti-Witchcraft laws that support the Witch Hunts from being passed. This is their time, and it is the single most important moment their national community has ever faced, and the greatest risk to themselves since Apartheid.

Witch School has been involved with the South African community and we have been doing our best, often inadequately because of distance and costs, to support the local community. We have contributed physical libraries, built an online school to reflect their community, and always have kept them in our rituals and in our hearts. They have contributed their vitality to our Witch School family for over a decade.  So this campaign, 30 Days of Advocacy Against Witch Hunts in Africa, is something we will support with our voices because it is right, and because it ultimately affects each and every one of us. We may be the most unique group to be able to support, as we are globally networked, and deeply rooted in many local areas. We can support this campaign so it does not get buried.
